MT-2 (melanotan II) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), the hormone that acts at the melanocortin receptors. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed glass vial, 10 mg per vial.
In the published preclinical literature it is used as a non-selective melanocortin-receptor agonist, mainly in receptor-binding work, melanocyte cell culture and rodent studies. Those studies describe open research questions, not established effects.
