What this material is and how it is supplied.
IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1) is a single-chain polypeptide of about 70 amino acids, structurally related to insulin, that in the body is produced mainly by the liver. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed glass vial, 10 mg per vial.
In the published preclinical literature it is used to study growth-factor signalling through the IGF-1 receptor, mostly in cell culture of muscle, bone, cartilage and nerve cells, and in animal growth models. Those studies describe open research questions, not established effects.
