Retatrutide is a synthetic peptide engineered as a single molecule with activity at three receptors: the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor, the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and the glucagon receptor. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed glass vial, in 10 mg and 20 mg sizes.
In the published preclinical literature it is examined as a tool for studying how those three signalling pathways interact, mostly in receptor assays and rodent models of energy balance and glucose handling. Those studies describe open research questions, not established effects.
